#CopingStrategies | Balancing Work and Migraines | Living Well with Migraines
Living with migraines can be really difficult especially if you still work and they mean you take time off a lot because of them, or you require specific disability aids within the workplace to help you manage your condition as you work. Maybe these aids make you stand out and you don’t like it, or they make you look like a ‘Bosses-Pet’ even though they are for your chronic illness and work are obliged to fulfill your needs wherever they can.
People can be cruel when they don’t understand, so this help sheet could be useful for you, and also the one that follows it titled: Talking About Migraines With Your Employer and Coworkers

In this post Julie discusses Last week, Elle Magazine and Cosmopolitan magazine posted a couple of articles that are just really demeaning towards those who live with migraines and are giving the wrong impression of people who suffer daily with migraines. She shows herself in her own pictures to show what it really looks like and asks for help to get this message out there.

Poverty, Neighborhood May Affect Outcomes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus | Sheila Jacobs| 22 June 2018
Article on how persistent poverty impacts the management of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This study utilized 723 patients who participated in annual structured interviews from 2003-2015. A subset of the larger group, utilized 28 patients for qualitative interviews to determine if and how persistent poverty and related factors impacted SLE management and outcomes. The study findings reported that persistent poverty requires immediate needs-based choices every day, which made it difficult for the participants to focus on SLE management except during a flare. ~ Gabrielle Lopez MpH

Complementary Therapies for JA | Try this, not that: find out which therapies to try and which ones to avoid.
Many families turn to complementary therapies to help ease the pain of a child with arthritis.
That can be a good thing – just be sure whatever you’re considering works for your situation.
- Exercising with free weights and activities like jumping rope can improve both physical and emotional health without increasing pain. But avoid high-impact sports.
- Relaxation exercises may diminish pain intensity … and they cause no negative side effects.
- Water therapy is a good way to limber up stiff joints in the morning, and relax tight, aching muscles at bedtime.
- Massage can relax muscles, lessen pain and improve circulation.
They may provide you with new methods to help manage your child’s pain.

Eyeforpharma – Mission statement:
Our mission is to make pharma more open and valued
The ultimate driver for the pharmaceutical industry’s health is meeting the needs of patients, otherwise it will cease to matter. For healthcare to be as good as it could be, the strength, skills and resources of our industry need to be fully integrated into health outcomes and we need pharma experience at the decision-making table.
We believe the industry must focus on a business model combining service with product, with patients at the center.

This is to ensure that all the news and stories go out to everyone that follows us across the social media platforms that we have profiles/accounts.
Here’s a few links to my favourite online newspapers for finding a variety of health related news from other Chronic Illness Bloggers & Warriors, for up to date news about health conditions such as latest research papers or people sharing hints and tips about how they cope day-to-day.
