Pain: Hope Through Research: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)

Do you live life in pain, know someone who does or care for someone in chronic pain with chronic illness?

Do you know what pain is?

Would you like to read more about the differing types and the neurological connections?

The following link takes you to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and a medical research paper into pain and it goes into intricate detail about what pain is.  Although it is a medical research paper there are parts which contain relevant medical jargon but it is a very good paper regarding the explanations of pain which are fairly easy to understand.

It discusses the neurochemistry and also genetics of pain, as well as Inflammation and pain, how pain is diagnosed/treated and then onto gender/elderly/children and pain.  I personally find this to be very useful and educational to read for anyone connected to living with Chronic pain.  The section dedicated to pain treatment is long and covers a vast area of medications with explanations about their type and what they are used for which can be useful when wanting to learn more about the medications that you are taking.

The paper goes on to discuss the future of pain and the hope that future pain research may bring to the medical table and then finishes with an A-Z of pain and useful links to go to for more information.

Wishing everyone less pain.

Many thanks for reading  🙂
